Space Caviar Italy
Space Caviar is an architecture and research studio operating at the intersection of design, technology, politics, and the public realm. Founded in 2013, the office uses built work, exhibitions, publishing, writing, and film to investigate and document contemporary modes of habitation and the spatialization of social and political practice. Space Caviar’s work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Triennale di Milano, Biennale Interieur, Vitra Design Museum, and Nilufar Gallery, among others. Led by partners Joseph Grima and Sofia Pia Belenky, Space Caviar has collaborated with some of the most renowned international brands, institutions, and individual clients to design and curate world-class architecture projects that have been experienced by millions of people.
The Workshop
In an era where remote work, AI, and constant digital connectivity are redefining our daily lives, the concept of home is undergoing a significant transformation. No longer just a private retreat, domestic space has become a hybrid environment—at once personal and professional, intimate and exposed, physical and virtual—where a kitchen table doubles as a workspace, and a bedroom serves as a backdrop for video calls.
In this workshop we will investigate how domesticity is being reconfigured under these shifting conditions, exploring its spatial, technological, and psychological thresholds in a moment where privacy is increasingly negotiated rather than assumed. How does the digital world infiltrate our most personal spaces? What does it mean to disconnect? And how are our notions of intimacy, comfort, and control being redefined? Participants will examine these questions by creating short video essays, photo-series, physical interventions, texts, and graphics that capture the cultural, social, and spatial implications of our evolving domestic landscapes.
Using Boisbuchet as a laboratory, we will engage in curatorial research, discussions, and hands-on media experiments. The workshop encourages both conceptual depth and creative play, challenging participants to develop new narratives of contemporary living. Whether through storytelling, speculative fiction, or critical analysis, the resulting works will provide a multifaceted portrait of domesticity in the digital age.
