ROYAL ACADEMY OF ART, THE HAGUE + DOMAINE DE BOISBUCHET
KABK’s Insight Into The Domaine
APRIL 2ND – APRIL 4TH
Domaine de Boisbuchet was pleased to host the young and creative minds from The Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK) from the Netherlands from April 2nd to April 4th, for a short yet exploratory visit and insight into the intricacies of architecture and furniture design.
For the students, It was an opportunity to explore the convolution of architectural pavilions at Boisbuchet that serve as examples of shaping the future of architecture and to witness the creativity and innovation of archival pieces of furniture that drove the field forward. The guided tour would begin with a comprehensive visit to each pavilion that highlights the various areas of research, experimentation and prototyping being conducted at the domaine. As the tour progressed, the students had an opportunity to be a part of Alexander Von Vegesack’s presentation and learn about the archive firsthand. This became a chance to ask questions, exchange ideas, and gain insight into the many different elements that go into the creation of a contemporary furniture piece.
Of course, no tour would be complete without food, and community lunches and dinners were held throughout their visit, which helped them taste the feeling of community building in Boisbuchet. This also acted as a chance for the students to relax, chat with each other, and reflect on everything they had learned during the day. It was also an opportunity for them to network and exchange contact information with members of our team.

The visit was concluded by a presentation from Pablo Sevilla, who educated the students about what the Domaine stands for and showcased some of the innovative workshops and residencies that are held every season. Throughout their stay, the students had opportunities to become one with nature and to experience the circuitous complexities of design made pendulous and flowy through the peaceful natural sanctuary in and around the Domaine. In conclusion, the short visit proved to be an exciting and educational experience with a lasting impression, as the students were left with a newfound appreciation for the fields of design and architecture and a deeper understanding of community building, and what it means to merge design, architecture and nature.
