SEASON 2022
Residency Program
Boisbuchet’s third season of residencies continues to welcome artists, designers, architects, writers, filmmakers, and musicians from around the world. From students to professionals, they have all had the opportunity, for one or several weeks, to work in the natural environment of Boisbuchet and with the facilities at hand to carry out their projects. Below you can find a selection of some of these experiences along with the results they have obtained.
Sophie Conolly is a visual artist originally from the UK, working primarily with textiles using traditional craft techniques such as stitching, papier mâché, felting and weaving to re-contextualise personal memories.
Rita Cruise in an artist who grew up in the Southwest Virginia mountains. She lives on an old farm (circa 1830), workshop and studio that she designed and restored.
Michela D’Angelo is a designer and illustrator based in Eindhoven. She was born in 1991 in Rome (Italy), graduated in Product Design at the College of Art and Design of Valencia in Spain (EASD) in 2015, and later in 2016 she held a master in Illustration at ESAT (Valencia).
Brenda G. Wallace (née García) is a Mexican-born floral designer and artist. Currently based in Barcelona, she develops large and small-scale projects, experimenting with flowers and foliage.
Shikha Hutchins is a multidisciplinary artist and teacher living in San Francisco California. Her work honours life by inviting in a sense of play and lightheartedness. When she is not teaching she can be found in nature or in her studio making things inspired by nature out of clay, paper and fabric.
Bradley Kerl is a painter and arts-educator based in Houston, TX. His work is generally derived from his day-to-day life experiences and engages heavily with the history and materiality of painting and drawing.
Zain Al Khalifa is a film photographer that likes to make images from existing images, adding new storylines and recycling thoughts and words into a pot of photo paper.
Pietro Migliorati is photographer and visual artist based in Barcelona. In photography, Pietro has found the medium closest to him, his eye, and his perception to find the complicity to express himself.
Joanne Jones is a bio-inclusive designer, researcher, and musician based in Paris. Her ongoing research focuses on interspecies collaboration with bioassembled materials as a conduit for conscious creation with the other-than-human. Accompanied by musician Robin Nicoli, together they developed an interactive sound installation for making music with kombucha.
Mieke van Oorschot is an artist from the Netherlands. Her cycle project started with a theatre play she saw about a resistance hero in the war.
Ellen Sigunick is an artisan and furniture maker based in Newburgh, NY. She is the founder of Sigunik Studio, a decorative arts atelier specialising in parchment and leather applications in furniture design and architectural surfaces.
Electra Simon is a Lebanese-English painter based in London. Electra creates large-scale figurative paintings that explore semi-autobiographical and social narratives.
Inez Tully is a collage artist based in Brighton, UK. Her practice uses colourful paper to document her thoughts and feelings to create a sense of place.
Erika Rundle is a writer, translator, and dramaturg. Her creative work focuses on feminist representations of the nonhuman and otherworldly in drama and film.
Karoline Vielemeyer is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has appeared at numerous international festivals.
Shiraz Khattab, Sireen Alawi and Mona Haj Yahya are architects researching and experimenting fully handmade ceramic techniques as a reviving practice of a traditional Palestinian craft.
Reviser les systèmes
During 2022, for the third year in a row, Domaine de Boisbuchet held its annual residency award, supported by DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Ministère de la Culture. Reviser les systèmes was the title for the third edition. A trio of creatives were welcomed for a week at Domaine de Boisbuchet, where they could work on the proposed project. The competition was dedicated to design and architecture students currently matriculated in a university within the European Union. More information can be found through this link.
Stav Bouzaglo is an Israeli interdisciplinary designer based in Tel Aviv\Paris. Stav studied for her bachelor’s in jewelry and industrial design at Shenkar college and continued to a Master’s in science of industrial design while collaborating with multiple scientists at Technion university.
Iñaki Cancillo Mora is a recent master’s graduate in Architecture from the University of Alicante. Drawn to nature Iñaki has been exploring ways to understand how the ecosystems work and are formed by many different agencies and the relations between them.
He Wang from Kunst Hochschule Kassel, Callie Charlier and Gwangmin Lee from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs together hoped to find a way through this project to allow people from different cultural backgrounds to strengthen communication and exchanges with each other in today’s daily urban life..
NAFAS
Implemented with the support of GALOP (exclusive distributor of Hermès in Lebanon) and the collaboration of the Institut français du Liban, women and men who possess the ancestral or more recent know-how of Lebanese crafts were selected for the program NAFAS, 100 résidences d’artistes libanais en France to establish residencies combining creation, production and training.
Acción Cultura Española
The AC/E Residency programme is designed to provide participants with the time, space and means to work in optimal conditions. It includes production support and expert assistance to encourage the transition to professional practice. The programme aims to help participants achieve the highest possible level of professionalism by equipping them with suitable theoretical and practical tools, as well as providing them with contacts in the complex art world.
Nour Mahmoud and Roni Kerbage are the engineers behind Cedroxy, a luxury art furniture brand creating handmade, artistic, customised pieces from sustainably- sourced epoxy resin and natural wood from trees native to their home in Lebanon.
Pablo Bolumar’s work is focused on transforming semi-finished materials into contextual pieces of functional art through assemblage and storytelling. His particular approach to the discipline of design is characterized by a rational use of post-industrial resources processed with craftsmanship and technical design.

Residency Program
Boisbuchet’s second season of residencies has welcomed a group of artists and creators of various professions and nationalities. From young students to professionals with extensive experience, all of them have been able to benefit, for one or several weeks, from the natural environment and the facilities of Boisbuchet to carry out their projects. Below you can find a selection of some of these experiences along with the results they have obtained.
Leslie Hamilton is an artist and textile designer. Based in New York, she creates seamless repeat prints on textiles, fabrics, and wall hangings which fuse handcrafted practices with design.
Alison Bartlett is a Canadian architect investigating how built environments can instil mindsets and perceptions between people.
Annie Coggan is a designer, artist, educator and a principal at Coggan + Crawford Architecture and Design based in Brooklyn, NY.
Naomi Clark is a multimedia artist splitting her time between Brooklyn, NY and Norwalk, CT. Clark received her BFA from University of Colorado at Boulder in 2004 and graduated with her MFA from Pratt Institute in 2008. She is one of the founders of Fort Makers, an artist collective and gallery.
Alex Libotte is a creative director and photographer currently living and working in Berlin. His practice uses analogue photography to shoot still-life as well as conceptual projects.
Reenie Charrière is a mixed media artist from the U.S. Motivated by architecture, movement, and space, her sculptural installations play upon the unpredictable juxtapositions of natural and synthetic matter.
Virginia Gordon is recent graduate of the MFA program of Furniture Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she has been undergoing extensive training in woodworking, metalworking, and soft goods.
Haydée Touitou is a poet, writer, translator, and editor, based in Paris. Defining her writing as dumb poetry, she views literature as amusingly incoherent.
Jorge Elósegui is the graphic designer and art director of Estudio Primo, which he founded in 2013. Here he has developed numerous projects related to graphic, product and spatial design, but always working with a holistic vision of design in mind.
Fran Fraca is a designer based in San Sebastian. In 2010 he opened his design office ‘FFraca’ which designs solutions for contemporary life, focusing on the research and conceptualization.
Agata Lauterbach (née, Anna Maleska) is a Polish-born architect, designer, and artist. Currently based in Germany, she develops large- and small-scale projects, experimenting with material and context.
Lucía Grompone is an industrial designer and illustrator. Currently she is part of the innovation team at the German toys company Ravensburger.
Silvia Fernández Palomar is an artist and designer from Madrid. She currently works freelance on art and design projects, balancing this with her work as educator at the IED European Institute of Design.
FederalUnited is made up of designers and artists Gregor Kuschmirz and Professor Markus Lauterbach. Together the pair work together on installations which merge audio-visual, interactive set-ups with computer visualisation, virtual and augmented realities.
Siv Lier is a designer, artist, and researcher from Norway. Through questioning the ways we interact with our surroundings, Siv uses design as a tool to trigger imagination and provoke new ways of thinking.
Yasmin Lennon-Chong is a critical and speculative designer based in London, UK. Her work is situated at the intersections of art, architecture, design, and urbanism, exploring a convergence of practices as means to challenge, enhance and speculate alternative modes of creating and inhabiting physical environments.
Marinika Sadgyan is a Russian multidisciplinary artist based in Cologne. Ksenia Tokmakova is an Interior Architect and Designer based in Moscow.
Liang-Jung Chen is a Taiwanese artist and designer currently based in London. She is the founder of ii/initial initiatives, an interdisciplinary creative practice, which works across different mediums to explore and engage in projects of positive impact.
Julia Ishac is a self-taught, German-Lebanese photographer working on personal and commissioned projects.
Energies and Synergies

Miriam Josi (CH) and Stella Lee Prowse (AU) began exchanging ideas and working together in 2012. Bonded by their curiosity and tendency to find beauty in unexpected places, their joint research explores growth, decay, waste, and material processes. They both founded Aléa together in Paris after their graduation.
Marion, Margaux and Raphaëlle are recent graduates of the Camondo School in Toulon. Together, they decided together to participate at the project Énergies-Synergies at Boisbuchet to continue their personal work around mycelium.

Boisbuchet’s first season of residencies has welcomed a group of artists and creators of various professions and nationalities. Originally from Germany, Ulrich Schrauth is an artistic director and programmer, working in the fields of immersive art, theatre performance and installation design.
Michiel and Aaron are a creative couple operating in the intersection between interior architecture and ornamentation through scenography, interior design, and furniture design.
Gaëlle Dennis is a British-French filmmaker working on her own films, as well as opera and dance pieces, hybrid animations, and CGI and multimedia projects.
Nathalie Mathoulin is a Jewellery designer, based in London. Intrigued by materials she finds whilst walking and during her travels she then transforms these raw materials into bespoke hand-made jewellery.
Judith van den Boom and Gunter Wehmeyer are designers, researchers and lecturers. They both work at Unidentified Facility, a collaborative design platform based in the Netherlands. Together their work connects design practice and education.
Charlotte Lardinois is a designer based in Paris. In Boisbuchet she experimented and tested different ideas and materials in her working process.
Yana Yanakieva is an international wine expert, based in Bordeaux, France, with 15 years’ worth of experience in the French wine industry.
Gregor Kuschmirz works as designer and artist working at the intersections of economy, culture and science, while Raffaele Grompone is a scientist, currently doing research on computer vision. They often collaborate on active installation works.
Lucia Grompone is a product and industrial designer from Uruguay, currently working as Technical Product Designer. She returned once more to Boisbuchet to focus on her illustrative work.
The wild house – stay with nature
During 2020 Domaine de Boisbuchet held the competition The wild house – stay with nature. Five laureates were welcomed for a week at Domaine de Boisbuchet, where they could work on the proposed project. Te competition was dedicated to design and architecture students currently matriculated in a university within the European Union. More information can be found through this link.
Marion Madrange is in her third year of DNA product design at ESAD in Reims. Her project opened the doors to the world of colors.
Originally from Belgium, Charlotte Goffette graduated from the Superior School of Art and Design in Saint-Étienne. Her field is in the areas of product and spatial design.
Aurélia Noudelmann is a designer. During her residency, she proposed a sound installation in dialogue with the biodiversity of the domain.
The artist duo Margaus Ballagny and Jeanne Tresvaux du Fraval have recently graduated from Decorative Arts in Paris. In Boisbuchet they united their convictions through a food independence project.
Institute for Postnatural Studies
For one week, Domaine de Boisbuchet became a laboratory for the Institute for Postnatural Studies in which to question and reflect on the idea of frontiers in the contemporary moment. They proposed tools through different actions from which to deploy new conceptual and aesthetic frameworks that update the way we understand and relate to the territory.
The hegemonic imaginary that we share of ecology is built around certain structures and hierarchies, objectifications of the landscape and of the non-human. If images, understood in all their complexities, are what shape and open our relations with what surrounds us, the proposal from the Institute tries to raise other imaginaries that expand the concept of ecology to the fields of discovery, mystery and speculation.
