Schlaich Bergermann Partner (DE)
Here Comes the Sun
July 17th – July 23rd 2022
Schlaich Bergermann Partner Germany
Since its founding in 1980, Schlaich Bergermann Partner has been one of the pioneers in the field of lightweight, efficient and resource-saving structures. For 40 years now, they have been developing and implementing solar thermal systems for energy generation. They have accompanied the development of photovoltaics since the beginning and are now also globally active in this segment with a wide range of technologies.
Curiosity and courage drive them. Innovation at SBP covers a wide range: it involves sustainable developments in the construction sector, the development of better design tools, and the use of new building materials and construction methods.
Over 200 motivated members from well over 20 nations make up the international team of SBP. The firm works on small and large tasks – always with commitment, cooperation and enthusiasm for innovative ideas and developments.
Their many years of experience and professional depth in the most diverse fields of work distinguish them as an engineering firm. For their clients, they are specialists, generalists, visionaries, consultants and team players. They work with our clients as equals, always looking for the best solutions for projects and the environment by keeping the big picture in mind.
Knut Stockhusen has been a partner at SBP since 2015, and has also been managing director of the sbp office in Spain since 2020. Gerhard Weinrebe is director at sbp sonne.
The Workshop
In 30 minutes, the sun sends more energy to earth than we all consume in an entire year. With only 1% of earth’s deserts, solar power plants alone could generate more energy than fossil fuels currently produce globally. The future belongs to those who succeed in harvesting these reserves effectively. In combination with optimizing the energy production from the other elements, a comprehensive set of tools will evolve to finally support the elimination of the waste of natural fossil resources for energy production. In the workshop, we will jointly explore a whole variety of different alternative energy harvesting principles. We will learn, discuss, explore, build, measure and jointly innovate to further advance in the field of renewable energies. The workshop will be led by Knut Stockhusen and Gerhard Weinrebe, who have been working together at SBP for more than 2 decades. The symbiosis of creative engineering and innovative energy production will be a major key to a more sustainable future. During the workshop week Gary will guide you to a holistic understanding of alternative and regenerative energy production, at small and large scale. Knut will showcase how this can be embedded within the urban fabric and how every designer can make a difference. The workshop is intended for engineers, designers, architects, climate engineers, believers, dreamers, those who simply want to make a difference and those who simply love sun, wind and water.
