Remnants Become Flowers
July 28th – August 3rd 2024
dach&zephir France
Graduates of the École des Arts Décoratifs de Paris with honors, Dimitri Zephir and Florian Dach have formed the design duo dach&zephir since 2016.
Their projects, a blend of fervor and poetry, are intended to be spokespersons for plural biographies and histories – with their richness and interference – celebrating the urgent and necessary diversity of the World. This approach is in line with the Tout-monde thinking of Martinican poet Edouard Glissant.
Their work has been exhibited at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London, DS Galerie in Paris, MAD Paris, Salon Satellite in Milan, Dutch Design Week – Eindhoven, Reciprocity Design Liège in Belgium, Operae design Festival in Turin – Italy, Mémorial ACTe in Guadeloupe, Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art in China and Galerie Karimoku in Japan.
Published in 2019, the book Eloj Kréyol: Meanderings in the field of decolonial design (ed. Onomatopée / Field Essays) offers an overview of their work.

The Workshop
The notion of a remnant is key to the creative and exploratory "éloj kréyol" approaches that our French-Caribbean studio develops. It first appeared in a conversation with the Guadeloupean poet and writer Ernest Pépin, who said of Creole culture: "We have built ourselves from remnants". He was referring to elements from African, European, Indian and Caribbean cultures that come together to create a new culture.
Over the years, during our travels to the Antilles and in the spirit of such a culture of remnants, we have put together a rich collection of forms, materials and everyday objects. We draw from it for our designs, which celebrate the contribution of the Antilles to today's creative landscape in France.
At the Domaine de Boisbuchet, we want to work with the same site-specific and sensitive approach to the terrain: Our workshop is to be understood as an invitation to take up the things (or parts of things) that embody and narrate this estate and its activities in order to create subtle, sensitive, and poetic visions.
Using artificial elements from previous workshops and natural elements from the surrounding landscape, selected according to affinity and sensitivity, we will create a new collection and become magicians of the material, transforming this collection into a true field of flowers, one that reflects the stories and landscapes of the Domaine.
