This workshop is a result of Lex Pott’s journey into a two year investigation of candle making. Within this week we will look at candles and working with wax from an experimental point of view.
By collaborating with one of the oldest candle makers in the Netherlands we have the opportunity to work on a variety of waxes and techniques. Bolsius celebrates their 150 th anniversary and combines it with
contemporary design based on a long heritage and experience.

During the week each participant has the facilities to make their own candle collection focussing on new techniques and experimentation. The results will be used to give a perfect sensation to each dinner.
Lex Pott will share his experience and knowledge that he gained over the past years to help each participant within their own direction and fascination in working with wax. Wax can be liquid, solid, flexible and it very satisfying to work with.
During the week we will: Bend it, break it, turn it, dip it, carve it, roll it, cast it, press it, punch it, squeeze it, scent it. and drip it.

The aim of the week is to have a different perspective on the ancient craft of candle making. By using a Dutch hands on mentality this week will be about understanding, reflecting and designing the material wax.
